Solving Problems & Disciplinary Meetings

The SHARE organizing staff spends much of its time talking behind-the-scenes with members about questions and issues that come up at work. We’re happy to help determine useful solutions together, and can do so confidentially. Whenever possible, we aim to fix things quickly and informally.

Of course, some issues require a more deliberate process. Because SHARE recognizes that our contract can’t address every concern that might arise in the workplace, we’ve negotiated a flexible Problem-Solving process to provide more possibilities than a traditional grievance procedure. Problem-Solving can be requested by SHARE members or by management.

SHARE Reps and Organizers are happy to help you prepare for any Problem Solving and be with you in the meeting. If your manager or supervisor has scheduled you for a meeting about a disciplinary issue, you are legally entitled to have a SHARE Representative join you. SHARE will provide skilled support.

See page 70 of the SHARE Contract Agreement for details. Call or email the SHARE office, or contact your area organizer for help.
